Frequently asked questions

Everything travellers usually ask us before buying an EFESIM data plan.

What is an eSIM?

An eSIM is a digital SIM card built into your phone. Instead of inserting plastic, you install a data profile by scanning a QR code — and you can keep your regular SIM in the device at the same time.

Is my phone compatible?

Most phones released after 2018 support eSIM, including iPhone XS and newer, Samsung Galaxy S20 and newer, Google Pixel 3 and newer, and many Xiaomi, HONOR, Huawei, OPPO, OnePlus, Motorola, Sony and Nokia models. Your device must also be carrier-unlocked.

When does the eSIM activate?

Validity normally begins when the profile first connects to a supported network in your destination. You can install it in advance at home without starting the countdown.

Can I keep my own phone number?

Yes. EFESIM plans are data-only, so your primary SIM stays active for calls and SMS while EFESIM handles mobile data.

Do I get a phone number with the plan?

No. Our travel plans provide mobile data only. Messaging and calls work through internet apps such as WhatsApp, Telegram or FaceTime.

Which currencies can I pay in?

Prices can be displayed in AZN, EUR and USD. The amount charged is confirmed at checkout once online payments are enabled.

Why is checkout not taking payments?

Card payments are switched off until our official BNESIM carrier integration is completed. Until then you can build your cart and contact support@efesim.com to arrange an eSIM manually.

Can I extend or top up a plan?

Yes — you can purchase an additional package for the same destination at any time. Automatic top-ups from a customer dashboard arrive with the BNESIM integration.

What if the eSIM does not work?

Write to support@efesim.com with your order details and a screenshot. If the problem is on our side and the plan was not used, you are covered by our refund policy.
